When making a gutter guard comparison, it’s important to note the huge difference between DIY gutter covers and professionally installed gutter solutions. There are many types of DIY gutter guards. Mesh gutter guards, screen gutter guards, foam gutter inserts, and other barriers that simply sit on the top of the gutter.
Most DIY gutter systems don’t take into account the science of surface tension, and large debris will sit on top of gutters, blocking water from entering the gutters. While gutter screens and other types of gutter guards found at big box hardware stores may be easy to install, they will likely result with the same clogged gutters and costly damage as traditional style gutters.
